Anne Gaiss. Through the diversity of language, on the border with abstraction and figuration, the artist explores the topic of the life cycle, overcoming not only matter, but also space and time.
In this research, the author is looking for answers to the questions about the incarnation of fate, of the origin of our world, the origin of the self and others. Thus, the work reflects like a cellular memory that will lead us - the audience - to the designation of such concepts as «fate» and «embodiment», tacking back and forth between the material immanence and transcendence, and cause something to question, in some own views, like a sort of determinism or fatalism. Paintings, drawings, installations and photographs all has a lovely tandem between art, science and spirituality. Fascinated by the abundance of images in the universe, the photographer turns the rules of classical size canvas, creating a giant formats, consisting of miniatures, where the fabric is blended with embroidery, ink, coatings, paints, collages and gilding. Ann Gaiss’s works invite us to dive into the memories of an imaginary life, being in eternal evolution.
After studying art history, archeology and law, Ann goes to auctioneer profession, and since 2007 continuously devotes itself to artistic creativity. Being self-taught, she has developed a very extensive and personal style at the same time.
Anne Gaiss. À travers un langage protéiforme, à la frontière de l’abstraction et de la figuration, la réflexion de l’artiste explore la thématique des cycles de vie en confrontant la matière, l’espace et le temps. Ces recherches mènent à d’autres questionnements comme celui de l’incarnation, du destin, de l’origine de organique, du moi et des autres. C’est ainsi que se révèlent des œuvres sur la mémoire cellulaire qui mènent alors à la notion de destin, d’incarnation, induisant un va et vient entre matière, immanence et transcendance, conduisant également à un s’interroger entre autre sur des notions telles le déterminisme ou le fatalisme. Qu’il s’agisse de peintures, dessins, installations ou photographies, ce travail se situe entre art, science et spiritualités. Fascinée par ces univers foisonnants, elle renverse les échelles classiques en créant des formats géants composées de miniatures où se mêlent tissus, broderies, encres, glacis, vernis, collages ou dorure à la feuille. Les œuvres d’Anne Gaiss nous invitent à plonger dans la mémoire d’un vivant imaginaire en perpétuelle évolution.
Après des études d’histoire de l’art, d’archéologie et de droit, Anne Gaiss se dirige vers le métier de commissaire priseur puis, à partir de 2007, se consacre définitivement à son travail artistique. Autodidacte, elle développe un univers très personnel tant dans la thématique que la stylistique.
Анн Гэйс. Через многогранность языка, на границе с абстракцией и формой, художник исследует тему жизненного цикла, побеждая не только материю, но также пространство и время. В этом исследовании автор ищет ответы на вопросы о воплощении судьбы, о возникновении нашего мира, о происхождении себя и других. Таким образом, работы отражают словно клеточную память, которая приведет нас - зрителей - к обозначению таких понятий, как « судьба » и « воплощение », лавируя туда-сюда между материальной имманентностью и трансцендентностью, а также - заставит в чем-то усомниться, в некоторых собственных взглядах - этакий детерминизм или фатализм. Картины, зарисовки, инсталляции и фотографии - это все есть прекрасный тандем между искусством, наукой и духовностью. Очарованная изобилием образов во Вселенной, фотограф переворачивает правила классических размеров полотна, создавая гигантские форматы, состоящие из миниатюр, где ткань смешивается с вышивкой, чернилами, глазурью, красками, коллажами и позолотой. Работы Анн Гэйс приглашают нас погрузиться в воспоминания о воображаемой жизни, находящейся в вечной эволюции.
После изучения истории искусств, археологии и права, Анн отправляется профессии аукциониста, а с 2007 года постоянно посвящает себя художественному творчеству. Будучи самоучкой, она разработала очень масштабный и личный стиль одновременно.
